Magdalena Kotkowska
Magdalena Kotkowska (b. 1984) is a Polish-born, Oslo-based artist. She holds an MA in Art History from the University of Wrocław and a BA and MFA in Medium and Material Based Art from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.
Working with sculpture and installation, her practice explores transformation, temporality, and the mutable nature of matter. Through processes of gathering, repetition, and material investigation, she reflects on how forms shift through time and interaction, revealing relationships between accumulation, change, and care.
Magdalena will spend the month of June in residence at EKAiR Šumiac, where she will focus on writing, research into plant-based dyeing processes, and the development of new sculptural work using marble she has brought with her to Slovakia.
Her travel to the residency has been generously supported by Norwegian Crafts.
