Summer Camp 2026
This summer, EKAiR hosts the third edition of our Summer Camp, a week when mothers, non-mothers, aunties, friends and kids come together to share the house, the garden, the village and everyday life.
Part holiday, part informal residency, part experiment in collective care, the Summer Camp grew from a simple wish to create a space where spending time with children doesn’t have to be separated from artistic, educational or cultural life. For one week, cooking, playing, walking, making things, conversations, small adventures and doing absolutely nothing become equally important parts of the programme.
Within EKAiR’s re-c/re-zident approach, we think of residency not only as a space for producing work, but also as a temporary way of living together exchanging roles, knowledge, attention and care. Children become collaborators, teachers become learners, artists become cooks, aunties become temporary parents, and everyone gets to move between taking care and being taken care of.
This year, Zuzana Jankovičová (film producer), Merle Holm (educator) and Martinka Bobrikova (artist and member of EKAiR) will spend the week together in Šumiac, accompanied by their own — and borrowed — kids.
No expected outcomes, no pressure to produce. Just a week for experimenting with how we can learn, play, make, rest and live together across generations.
