summer call 2026

A few residency spots remain available at EKAiR Šumiac this summer:

Available periods

• 1–11 July 2026
• 15–23 August 2026
• September 2026 (upon request)

This is a simple and informal open call. There is no application form, no portfolio requirement, and no expectation of producing work during your stay.

We welcome artists, researchers, writers, curators, cultural workers, and anyone in need of time and space for reflection, reading, walking, thinking, resting, or working at their own pace. We particularly appreciate honesty and believe that recreation, well-being, and unproductive time are valuable parts of any sustainable creative practice.

Residents have exclusive use of the entire house and surrounding property for the duration of their stay. You are welcome to come alone or invite collaborators, friends, partners, or family members to join you. No other residents will overlap with your residency period.

To apply, simply send us:

• your preferred dates, (one to four weeks)
• one sentence about what you would like to do during your stay.

Residencies are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The residency operates through a modest contribution of 8 EUR per person per day, helping us cover utilities, maintenance, and the ongoing care of the house and its surroundings. Children under the age of 18 stay free of charge.
